Craig will bring a fresh perspective and new energy to Mount Pleasant Town Council, and his dedication and problem-solving abilities will help address the issues that confront our community. As a family man and small business owner with a vested interest in the community, he wishes to accomplish the following goals:
· Evaluate complex issues regarding growth in Mount Pleasant
· Promote smart growth and development over restrictive limitations that only make it difficult to sustain our quality of life in times of economic downturns
· Maintain and develop green spaces within Mount Pleasant
· Increase the tax base by attracting business development and thereby reducing individual property tax burdens
· Maintain quality of life through an aggressive economic development strategy
· Create a “one-stop shop” permitting and regulatory process so that more business developers will view Mount Pleasant a suitable home
· Aggressively review existing programs to ensure effectiveness and proper funding
· Find solutions for traffic problems that so frustrate our community’s residents
· Lobby County, State and Federal lawmakers to create tax credit programs for residents who choose to build or renovate with sustainable and green resources
· Protect property rights for citizens of Mount Pleasant
Craig will give the commitment in time, energy and creativity to create a fresh perspective to Town Council. His ability to work with everyone to achieve real and lasting solutions will be a trademark of his service. While Craig is a native of Mount Pleasant, he does not believe that entitles him to any special privileges over our newer citizens who chose Mount Pleasant as the place to live. Craig and his family also chose to live here. We are in this challenge together and we will achieve great success as a unified community.
