Dr. Craig H. Rhyne, Jr., of Palmetto Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, is the candidate most committed to improving and enhancing our community. As a person who has been described as thoughtful, determined and committed to excellence, Craig is running for Mount Pleasant Town Council to bring fresh ideas and an enormous amount of energy to improve the quality of life for all the residents of this community.
The current economic times dictate new approaches to issues confronting Town Council and Craig wants to harness the existing resources to effectively increase value to our tax payers. Before Mount Pleasant takes on new challenges Council should assess the effectiveness and value of existing expenditures. Economic Development is an essential component to alleviate any pressures to increase property taxes. Craig will work with the members of Council to develop new “strategic growth” with less cumbersome regulations and a streamlined permitting process. This serves as both a means to reduce traffic to Charleston and increase revenues outside the property tax structure.

Craig was encouraged by former Governor James B. Edwards, DMD to run for Mount Pleasant Town Council after Craig asked Gov. Edwards how to help Mount Pleasant and South Carolina realize their fullest potential. Both are Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and have a love for their community. They have commonality beyond that because they were both raised in Mount Pleasant and chose to return home after military service to begin their businesses and raise their families. It is important to the Rhyne family to see Mount Pleasant continue to develop and grow responsibly and also to preserve the environment and green spaces for everyone to enjoy.
